Children's Mental Health Week

As many of our parents and carers are aware Gallions Mount works very closely with children’s counselling service Place2Be. Place2Be is a fantastic service that helps to support and improve the mental and emotional health and wellbeing of both children and parents from our school community. Place2Be currently provides emotional and therapeutic support to pupils and families in more than 250 schools nationwide.

Children’s Mental Health Week is supported by Place2Be to encourage everyone in the country to “spread a little kindness.” We believe in and understand the importance of promoting and supporting a healthy mental state to all children and families in our school and that early intervention is paramount to ensure any mental health needs do not grow with the child. Along with HRH The Duchess of Cambridge we agree that “all children should be given the best possible start in life” and with the help of Place2Be and by creating awareness of children’s mental health we can provide our young children with the tools to manage difficulties and changes in a positive way.

On Friday 3rd February 2017 we were lucky enough to hold an event for Place2Be which invited sponsors, businesses and companies to come and see how Place2Be and Place2Talk work in our school. It was a great opportunity to showcase how Place2Be has supported our children and families and how brilliant it is for the children to have access to their services on a regular basis. Some of the children who have benefited from using Place2Talk shared their experiences and expressed their fondness for Seamus and the work he does with them. We also created a film to support Place2Be and to encourage more sponsors to support the amazing work they do around the country. This can be watched below.

More information on Place2Be and their services can be found at Here you will also find a link to ‘The Big Assembly’ which was held by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, supported by Heads Together, which was watched live in schools across the UK on Monday 6th February 2017 to kick start Children’s Mental Health Week.

We will be spreading the kindness throughout the school to all children and adults and will continue to do so with the help and support of Place 2Be.
