World Book Day

On Thursday 1st March we will be joining thousands of schools around the world with the celebration of World Book Day. The theme this year is ‘Bedtime Stories’ and we thought there would be no better way to celebrate than by encouraging our pupils to come to school dressed in their pyjamas. Throughout the day all children will be given an opportunity to read an listen to a wide range of stories with their class. At the end of the day all children will also receive a £1 book token that can be spent on any of the World Book Day books seen below.

Not only will we be supporting World Book Day by having a pyjama day, we will also be bringing back our well loved book fair. From Thursday 8th March through to Wednesday 14th March the Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the Junior Hall from 3:15pm-4pm. Here you will find a fantastic array of books from authors including David Walliams, Roald Dahl, Liz Pichon and even books dedicated to LEGO and Minecraft. If children do not wish to spend their book vouchers on the World Book Day books they will be able to spend them at the book fair from the 8th March.

In the run-up to World Book Day, Monday 19th February-Wednesday 28th February, we will be holding a Book Amnesty! This is a request for all children to bring to school any books they have loaned but not returned. When the books are returned to school children will be entered into a prize draw to win a £5 book token that can be spent at the Scholastic Book Fair. Prize winners will be announced on World Book Day.
